Jessica Cisneros, MEd, is a veteran educator with two decades of experience working in education in Washington, DC. Currently, she is the project director for the Residency for Excellence in Teaching and Learning — a partnership between American University (AU) and Friendship Public Charter Schools.
Before coming to AU, Cisneros worked for four years as an instructional coach with City Teaching Alliance and as an adjunct instructor at Johns Hopkins University. She also was a classroom teacher in DC for seven years, teaching grades Pre-K through first grade and serving as a mentor teacher and a teacher leader. In addition to being an Understood Fellow, Cisneros also participated in Ustahimilivu Dadas, an international education exchange program in Nairobi.
Cisneros earned a master of education degree in elementary education and a master of education degree in special education focused on students with moderate disabilities, both from Lesley University.
