Andrea M. Spencer, PhD
Former Dean, School of Education, Pace University, and Private Consultant
Andrea (Penny) Spencer, PhD, has extensive leadership experience in programs serving children and adolescents with disabilities and children at risk of failure in public and private educational settings. Spencer has taught and advised preservice and inservice teachers and developed innovative special education graduate programs as a faculty member and associate dean of the Bank Street College of Education. Her most recent position as dean of the School of Education at Pace University focused on the creation of professional development and special programs for area school districts as well as the integration of educational technologies into undergraduate and graduate education curricula. For more than 10 years she has also served as special education consultant to the Center for Children’s Advocacy and the Office of the State Child Advocate in Connecticut.
Spencer earned her PhD in special education from the University of Connecticut. She is currently a consultant focused on advocacy, program development, and leadership for educational and nonprofit organizations.
