Shelley Haven, ATP, RET, BSME, is an independent assistive technology consultant who focuses on learning differences, ADHD, and executive functioning. Haven serves both families and schools, and specializes in matching students and adults with tools appropriate to their learning profile, tasks, and instructional or work environments.
Previously, Haven directed assistive technology resources and services for Stanford University’s Office of Accessible Education. She was instrumental in creating the Schwab Learning Center at Stanford, which is now part of Children’s Health Council, an Understood founding partner. This learning center provides enhanced services and resources for students with learning differences and ADHD, and promotes the principles of Universal Design for Learning. Her latest endeavor involves training education professionals how to leverage generative AI for teaching and learning.
Haven has a degree in engineering. She also has two RESNA assistive technology certifications, including Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and Rehabilitation Engineering Technologist (RET).
