Kim Greene, MA, served as the editorial director at Understood. She has more than a decade of experience in the field of education, working in schools as well as writing and editing resources for teachers and school leaders.
She began her career as an elementary teacher and was passionate about working with struggling readers. She later earned a certificate as a reading specialist.
Since then, Greene has held several roles in educational publishing. At Scholastic, she wrote and edited teachers’ guides and supplemental student resources. She later served as the senior editor of Instructor and Scholastic Administrator magazines and as senior associate editor of ASCD’s flagship publication, Educational Leadership magazine.
Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Association for American Publishing REVERE Award for best news and reporting, as well as Jesse H. Neal Awards for best instructional content. She was also honored by the Association Media & Publishing in 2017 as an Emerging Leader in publishing.
Greene earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and English from The College of New Jersey and a master’s degree in literacy education from New York University.
