Important updates to Wunder

Q. What parts of the app are changing?

A. Starting on Wednesday, August 28, you’ll notice a few key changes to the app:

  • All community features will be removed from the app.

  • The Resources tab, which links to content on Understood.org, will also no longer be in the app. But all of that content will still be available on Understood.org.

  • Exercises will be renamed Lessons. And you’ll have quicker access to the Behavior Tracker.

  • We’ll also be updating our name from Wunder to the Understood app.

Q. Will there be another community that supports parents of kids with learning differences like ADHD and dyslexia?

A. Yes! We encourage you and all our Wunder community members to join our Facebook group, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia: Support for Understood Families. In this group, you can connect with other families, ask questions, get advice from peers, and share your child’s success stories. You can also join TDAH, dislexia, y discalculia: Grupo de apoyo para padres for Spanish-speaking families.

Q. Will my app automatically update to the new version?

A. It should. But if it doesn’t, you might need to update your app manually. For both iOS and Android users, you can update your app version in your device’s app store.

Be on the lookout for reminders from us to update your app around August 28. That way, you’ll be sure to see the changes and updates.

Q. When the app changes, will I need to create a new login?

A. No. The login credentials that you’ve been using to access Wunder will continue to work when it becomes the Understood app.

Q. Will I still be able to ask questions to experts?

A. We encourage you to join our Understood.org Facebook group, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia: Support for Understood Families. In the group, you can connect with other parents who have similar lived experiences. And you can ask questions and get expert-vetted answers from the Understood team. Or submit your questions for experts via email to info@understood.org for our Ask an Expert email series. Be sure to include “Ask an Expert” in your subject line.

Q. I’m not on Facebook. Can I still join the Facebook group?

A. You’ll need to have a Facebook account to join the group. If you prefer, you can keep your account mostly private and use it solely for accessing the community.

Q. What will happen to all the posts from users like me and experts in the app?

A. Posts will be removed from the app when the community closes. Once that happens, posts will no longer be visible or accessible.

Q. I’ve gotten some really great responses from experts. How can I keep the answers?

A. The simplest way to keep the answers you’ve gotten from experts is to take a screenshot of them on your phone. Before August 28, navigate to Profile > Your activity and you’ll see your exchanges with experts. From here, screenshot the posts you want to save.

Q. I didn’t know Wunder was part of Understood, and I’ve never heard of that organization. Where can I learn more about Understood?

A. Understood is a nonprofit focused on shaping the world for difference. We raise awareness of the challenges, skills, and strengths of people who learn and think differently. We have many resources to help people navigate challenges, gain confidence, and find support and community so they can thrive. You can learn more about us and our mission by visiting Understood.org.

Q. I’m an educator. Is there going to be a new community for me?

A. We encourage you to join our Facebook group, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia: Support for Understood Families. The primary focus of this group is to support parents, but everyone is welcome. We also have many resources for educators at Understood.org. And be sure to check out more resources and subscribe to our email newsletter for educators.

Q. Are there any Lessons (currently called Exercises) specific to educators?

A. Our Lessons feature is still new and focuses on supporting parents of kids with learning and thinking differences like ADHD and dyslexia. But we’d love to hear ideas for topics you’d be interested in seeing Lessons on. Send a quick email with more information to app@understood.org.

Q. I’m not a parent and joined this community for myself. Is there going to be a new community for me?

A. We encourage you to join our Facebook group, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia: Support for Understood Families. The primary focus of this group is to support parents, but everyone is welcome. On August 1, we’ll also be creating a new Facebook group for women with ADHD. Keep an eye out for that announcement in the group linked above.

Check out these resources if you're an adult with learning and thinking differences and are struggling at work. Or you can subscribe to our newsletter for women with ADHD. Click the download link on this page, then put your email address in the popup.

Q. Will there be any Lessons (currently called Exercises) that I can use for myself?

A. Our Lessons and Behavior Tracker features are still new and are focused on supporting parents. But we’d love to hear more about what types of Lessons you’d like to see for yourself. Send a quick email with more information to app@understood.org.

Q. I’d like to delete my account and personal data. How can I do that?

A. We’re sorry to see you go. You can delete your account in the app by navigating to Profile > Settings > Manage account. From this screen, you’ll see the option to delete your account. Deleting your account will delete all of your personally identifiable information as well as all of your activity within the community to date.

Q. My question wasn’t answered here. What should I do?

A. If you have questions that weren’t covered, please email us at app@understood.org.
