Melissa Thompson, MS
Senior Program Analyst–STEM
Melissa Thompson is a dedicated educator and administrator with over 20 years of experience in both formal and informal education settings. Her years teaching in a self-contained classroom made her passionate about equitable experiences for students who receive special education services.
Thompson is a national awardee of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching (PAEMST), administered by the National Science Foundation and the White House. She served as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow for the Department of Defense. Thompson is a National Board Certified Teacher candidate and has published curriculum and materials for the United States Navy.
At the University of Maryland–College Park, Thompson earned both a bachelor of science degree in biology and secondary science education and a master of science degree in chemical, mathematical, and life science. She’s now pursuing her doctoral degree.
