Kimberly Eckert, MEd, is the senior advisor for apprenticeship development and head of instructional innovation at Western Governors University. As a former English teacher and instructional coach, Eckert is committed to advocacy for teachers and students.
Eckert served as the inaugural dean of Oxford Teachers College at Reach University and was the founder and state coordinator of Educators Rising Louisiana. She was the 2018 Louisiana Teacher of the Year, an NEA Social Justice Activist of the Year national finalist, a Global Teacher Prize honoree/ambassador, and a Louisiana Public Interest Fellow. She is the co-author of Flip the System US: How Teachers Can Transform Education and Save Democracy.
Eckert earned a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master of education degree in special education at Northwestern State University. She is working toward a doctor of philosophy degree in learning, education, and innovation from Walden University.
