Founder, Change Dyslexia
Luz Rello, PhD, is the founder of Change Dyslexia and a systems scientist at Carnegie Mellon University in the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at the School of Computer Science. She holds a degree in linguistics, a master’s degree in natural language processing, and a doctorate in computer science. She has received a number of awards, including the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 Award and the European Young Researchers Award for her work on applying technology to dyslexia.
The nonprofit applications that integrate her research results have almost 200,000 downloads in more than 70 countries. Rello received the 2016 Princess of Girona Prize, granted by the Crown of Spain, and the New Researcher Award, granted by the International Dyslexia Association, for her projects involving the use of large-scale artificial intelligence in screening for and supporting dyslexia.
