Shelley Haven

Independent Assistive Technology Consultant

Shelley Haven has spent more than 30 years helping individuals with physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges unlock their potential with technology. She works as an independent assistive technology (AT) consultant with a focus on learning differences, ADHD, and executive functioning. Haven serves families and schools, both in person and online, specializing in matching students with tools appropriate to their learning profile, tasks, and instructional environments.

Previously, Haven directed AT resources and services for Stanford University’s Office of Accessible Education. She was also instrumental in establishing the Schwab Learning Center at Stanford, which provides enhanced services and resources for students with learning differences and ADHD and promotes the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

As a volunteer for Parents Education Network (now part of Children’s Health Council, an Understood partner), Haven coordinates the technology pavilion for their annual EdRev event in San Francisco. She has a degree in engineering and is RESNA-certified as an assistive technology professional (ATP) and as a rehabilitation engineering technologist (RET).
